Context
PetSmart was rebuilding its digital commerce experience on MACH principles — Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless — with Commercetools for commerce and Contentful for content. Valtech ran the engineering; I joined as Senior Full-Stack Engineer and Technical Lead.
What I did
- Led development in an Nx monorepo supporting multiple Next.js micro-frontends, shared libraries, GraphQL integrations and backend services deployed to GKE.
- Built reusable frontend and backend capabilities for the MACH-aligned platform using React, Next.js, Node.js, Commercetools and Contentful.
- Contributed to testing, developer tooling, code review, performance improvements and implementation decisions across distributed engineering teams.
Why the monorepo mattered
Several teams shipped independently into one customer experience. The Nx workspace gave them shared libraries, consistent tooling and affected-only builds, so micro-frontends could evolve separately without diverging in behaviour or quality.
