Context
ISC2 — the association behind the CISSP certification — needed a backend that could unify search, CRM and commerce behind a single API for its member-facing experiences. I built it from the ground up during my time at Valtech.
What I did
- Built a GraphQL and microservices backend from scratch, improving modularity, extensibility and separation of concerns.
- Implemented Azure serverless integrations (Azure Functions) with Algolia for search, Salesforce for CRM and Commercetools for commerce.
- Documented the solution — architecture, contracts and operational notes — so ISC2's internal engineers could own and extend it.
Outcome
A modular API layer with clear boundaries between search, CRM and commerce concerns, handed over with documentation so the client's own team could extend it.
