Context
Bold Checkout is a headless, composable checkout used by enterprise merchants. Bold Commerce brought me in as the Commercetools and Node.js specialist on the Checkout team to connect Bold Checkout to Commercetools-based storefronts and to keep Shopify-based ones healthy.
What I did
- Designed and implemented the Bold Checkout integration with Commercetools: API behaviour, checkout lifecycle handling, data mapping between the two platforms, failure scenarios and client-specific extension points.
- Supported Shopify-based storefronts integrated with Bold Checkout, collaborating on checkout behaviour, payment workflows, error handling and external commerce services.
- Worked directly with clients and platform teams to investigate integration issues, clarify technical constraints and deliver maintainable solutions without compromising platform stability.
- Improved release confidence through automated testing, code and design reviews, and collaboration on CI/CD and deployment strategies.
Why it matters
Checkout is where revenue is won or lost, so the design treated failure scenarios and client-specific extension points as first-class requirements rather than edge cases — and the automated test suite made each release a non-event.
